Plant Empowerment x HAS green academy

New training programme for tomato crop managers

The future of tomato production demands a new generation of crop managers. Professionals who not only understand climate, irrigation and plant health, but also know how to use data and plant physiology to make better growing decisions. To support this development, Plant Empowerment and HAS green academy are launching a new Dutch-language Tomato Crop Manager Training Programme, starting in October 2026.

A unique collaboration between HAS and Plant Empowerment

Over nine training days, participants will learn directly from leading specialists in tomato cultivation and gain practical knowledge in irrigation, climate control, energy management, light, plant health and data-driven growing. The programme combines the educational expertise of HAS green academy with the practical experience of Plant Empowerment, whose methodology was developed in close collaboration with some of the world’s most advanced tomato growers.

Experience tomato growing in practice

What makes this programme unique is its strong focus on practical application. Participants work on real cultivation challenges, analyse their own growing situations and visit leading horticultural organisations, including HAS green academy, WUR Bleiswijk, Delphy Improvement Centre, Tomatoworld and Koppert.

For ambitious tomato crop managers

The programme is specifically designed for junior crop managers who are ready to take the next step towards a more independent and senior role within tomato production.

“Modern greenhouse horticulture requires crop managers who understand the interaction between climate, irrigation, energy, plant health and data. This programme helps participants develop exactly those skills.”

In just nine afternoons and evenings, participants gain access to decades of practical growing knowledge and build a valuable network of fellow tomato crop managers and industry professionals.

Take the next step today

The programme starts on 8 October 2026 and is taught entirely in Dutch. Interested in taking the next step in your career as a tomato crop manager? Registration is now open.
