Pollination challenges during the darker months

As greenhouse conditions change during the darker months, many growers face challenges with pollination in winter. High humidity, limited airflow, and reduced sunlight can affect both pollen quality and bumblebee activity, leading to inconsistent fruit set.

To help growers understand and manage these challenges, Plant Empowerment launches a new online course: “Cracking the code of winter pollination”, as part of the Webinar Program.

Meet the experts

This live webinar takes place on Tuesday, November 11, at 4:00 PM CEST via the Plant Empowerment Knowledge Platform. During this session, climate specialists Paul Arkesteijn (Svensson) and Remco Huvermann (Koppert) will share practical insights into how temperature, humidity, and airflow influence pollination and fruit quality.

Participants will also get the opportunity to ask their own questions during the interactive round table discussion with our experts.

What you’ll learn

  • How climate conditions impact pollen and flower health
  • Practical strategies to support pollination during winter
  • Tips for monitoring humidity and flower microclimate
  • Best practices to keep bumblebees active under low-light conditions

How to join

The webinar is part of the Plant Empowerment Webinar Program and can be accessed for €99.95, which also includes previous sessions on light optimization, water management, and pest control.

Alternatively, you can become a Full Member for €499 per year and get unlimited access to all learning content and future courses.
